Accounting his 14 years (1980 to 1989 and 1991 to 1995) as Member of Parliament, representing the Delhi Sadar Parliamentary Constituency, Jagdish Tytler feels happy that he could fulfill all the promises he made to the people of his Constituency during 1980, 1984 and 1991 elections.

Jagdish Tytler always owes his four time victory to the ideals of united and secular nation for which Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives. He acknowledges the gracious decision of the voters and prominent citizens of his constituency and remains grateful to them for their support in the elections electing him to parliament. He has immense faith in them and hopes to retain their support. He is full of welfare plans for them.

A firm believer in waging a determined battle against the evils of casteism, communalism, violence and atrocities on the weak and vulnerable sections of the society, including women, Tytler urges his constituents to vote absolutely and whole heartedly for the Congress party for the unity, integrity, stability and progress of the country so that the coming Congress government could work towards economic progress and social justice.

Having immense faith in Indian younger generation, Tytler is sure that the youth can fight relentless battle which is imperative for building a strong India. Equally he has determined faith in the Indian women and freedom fighters that they are the real backbone of the society for building a prosperous India.

Tytler is a man of patience with determined mind, and of high public relations. He believes in neutralising the feeling of religious animosity among communities. He always intends to organise inter-community meetings and goodwill missions through religious leaders of the communities. He does not believe in mixing politics with religion.

As an esteemed representative of the Sadar Parliamentary constituency, Tytler had been taking up his responsibility with utmost seriousness and dedication working towards the cause of the whole of the majority and minority people of his constituency, irrespective of any prejudice and discrepancy, which includes the Punjabi people (both Hindus and Sikhs), Vaishya, Jain, Christian and Muslim communities.

Jagdish Tytler as Member of Parliament and Minister was always available to the people every day. In spite of his positions as Cabinet Minister he was very often seen countersigning the concession forms for the needy, the poor, widows, handicapped and those from weaker sections. He gives time to everybody. There is no weekly holiday for him. He works 15 to 18 hours a day. He sticks to his schedule. With confidence, he solves the problems of the citizens of his constituency. He is all set to take the Delhi Sadar Constituency forward, to prepare to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

About the results of 1980, 1984 and 1991 elections, expressing his deep gratitude to each and every voter of his Constituency, with satisfaction. He says “Almost every voter voted for me. The people, the workers and the congress leaders of the Constituency gave their whole hearted support”.

He says there is a greater need to rekindle the ideals of Mahatma, Nehru, Indira and Rajiv in the hearts of millions of people. Congress is the only Party that can provide stability to the country and lead to the path of economic development. Under the leadership of the Congress party the country has progressed in every sphere, Tytler adds.

Tytler excelled himself as Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Tourism, Labour, Food Processing Industries, Surface Transport and Coal. He had shown remarkable improvements in the performance of his ministries. As a Minister, he has made a mark as on of the few politicians with a firm grip on administrative setup. He wanted to ensure that the benefits of crucial policies reached the common people. In order to make India a prosperous nation, let us make a firm resolve together to put the country on the fast track of development and lend our active cooperation in the task of nation-building and people’s welfare so as to realise our dream of building an ideal India, he stresses.

In addition to his several multi-faceted local level successful deeds and programmes for the welfare of the people of his constituency and the capital as a whole, his national level magnificent works of esteemed importance include : notable developments and progress at all fronts of all wings of the Civil Aviation and Tourism; policy of Labour Ministry; speedy development of Food Processing Industries; policy of Shipping industries, Ports, Roads and National Highways; reshaping the transport policy, redevelopment of the old refugee and slums areas of Kingsway Camp – an acute problem since partition (1947).

A few more significant social and religious endeavors done by Jagdish Tytler include : introduction of only vegetarian meals on Indian Airlines on tuesdays, starting of Helicopter service to Vaishno Devi Temple, Jammu; Sikh Shrine Gurudwara, Hemkunt sahib; introduction of Haj flights from Hyderabad, Madras, Kolkata, and Kashmir; and suggestion to the Government for Live telecast of Parliamentary proceedings for the people to have the right to know what their representatives are doing for the welfare and prosperity of the nation.

The people of Delhi Sadar Parliamentary Constituency must feel and acknowledge that Jagdish Tytler proved himself undoubtedly a worthy Minister, MP, leader and the candidate of their Constituency.
